What Is Amazon Pay?

Amazon Pay is a service that provides buyers with the ability to send payments for goods or services by using the payment methods already associated with their Amazon account. To make a payment, they can use a credit or debit card, or their Amazon Pay account balance.

Sellers are required to register for a new Amazon Pay merchant account in order to use Amazon Pay, even if you already have another Amazon seller account. The email address associated with the Amazon Pay account must differ from the email address you use for any other Amazon account. To begin the registration process, sellers can visit the Amazon Pay website to complete a questionnaire and sign up for the program.

With the program, you can improve your overall customer experience by offering a convenient way for them to check out. They can pay for your products and services without creating a new account or leaving your site. You can protect your customers with Amazon’s A-Z Guarantee at no additional cost, validate and verify customers with a familiar and trusted login, and help reduce bad debt with Amazon’s fraud detection and prevention technology.

What Does the Partnership With Worldpay Indicate?

In its latest move to expand its reach outside of its marketplace platform, Amazon has established a partnership with Worldpay, a well-known provider of payment technologies that processes 40 billion annual transactions in 120 different currencies. Worldpay will now offer Amazon Pay, so any of its merchants can offer the program as a payment and shipping option to its customers. The deal marks Worldpay as the first payments acquirer to fully enable Amazon Pay for its e-commerce customers.

By using Worldpay’s API to integrate Amazon Pay into their websites, Worldpay’s U.S. merchants receive growth opportunities and the ability to manage their businesses by centralizing their payment methods into one place. For Amazon, the move symbolizes a significant extension of the company’s footprint, paving the way for additional opportunities to provide value to buyers and merchants alike.
