AmazonGlobal makes it easy for customers to discover any hidden costs in buying internationally. The import fee deposit is estimated – based on customs duties, taxes, and any other import fees – for eligible countries, and customers are charged at checkout. The seller then authorizes these monies to be used to pay the import fees to the local authorities.
Amazon estimates the import fees deposit because customs regulations, tax rates, and the like are subject to change between the date the item is ordered and the import date. AmazonGlobal ensures that the seller will not be charged additional fees if the actual cost exceeds their estimate, and if the estimate was higher than the actual cost, the difference will be refunded to the customer. The refund process takes 60 days from the date of shipment. In the event of a return or the need for a replacement product, the customer becomes the exporter and is required to comply with all export laws of the given country, with title and risk of loss transfer returning to AmazonGlobal upon receipt of the returned product.
