Amazon assigns a status to every order that indicates where it is in the purchase-to-delivery process. Monitoring order status helps sellers identify which orders require action, track fulfillment progress, and manage their operations effectively.
Amazon’s Manage Orders page in Seller Central displays all orders with their current status. Orders follow a defined lifecycle from placement through delivery, with different statuses for standard Amazon orders and Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) orders.
Orders placed on Amazon have one of four statuses:
| Status | Description | Seller Action |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | Payment is being processed or verified. The order is not yet ready for fulfillment. | Wait - do not ship or contact the buyer. |
| Unshipped | Payment verified. The order is ready for fulfillment. | Confirm shipment (FBM) or monitor FBA processing. |
| Shipped | The order has been marked as shipped by the seller (FBM) or by Amazon (FBA). | Monitor delivery tracking. |
| Cancelled | The order has been cancelled by the buyer, seller, or Amazon. | No further action needed. |
Orders follow a standard progression:
Pending → Unshipped → Shipped
At any point before shipment, an order may move to Cancelled if:
Once an order reaches Unshipped status, the “Confirm shipment” and “Cancel order” buttons become available in Seller Central. The customer receives an order confirmation with an estimated delivery date at this stage.
For FBA orders, Amazon handles the transition from Unshipped to Shipped automatically as it picks, packs, and ships the product from its fulfillment centers.
Pending is the most nuanced order status. An order remains Pending until Amazon verifies payment and clears it for fulfillment.
Most orders move from Pending to Unshipped within minutes to hours. However, in some cases, orders can remain Pending for up to 21 days - for example, if a buyer uses a payment method that requires extended verification.
Orders processed through Multi-Channel Fulfillment (orders from non-Amazon channels fulfilled by Amazon) use a separate set of statuses:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Planning | Order received by Amazon; being prepared for fulfillment |
| Shipping | Order is being picked and packed for shipment |
| Complete | Order has been shipped |
| Unfulfillable | Cannot be fulfilled (out of stock, invalid shipping address, etc.) |
MCF orders appear under the “Non-Amazon” designation in the Sales Channel filter on the Manage Orders page.
To view the status of your orders:
You can view both Seller Fulfilled (FBM) and FBA orders on this page. FBA orders transition through statuses automatically as Amazon processes them.
Understanding when you get paid is directly connected to order status.
Amazon disburses seller funds every 14 days. Eligible US sellers can opt for Express Payout, which disburses funds within 24 hours.
Starting March 12, 2026, Amazon delays seller payouts for FBA orders until 7 days after delivery confirmation (DD+7). Previously, the payout clock started after shipment.
This means the full timeline from order to payout is now:
Order placed → Shipped → Delivered → 7-day hold → Disbursement cycle
This change affects cash flow for all FBA sellers. Sellers should account for this delay when planning inventory purchases and managing working capital.
Optimize Pricing Across Your Order Lifecycle
Feedvisor’s AI-powered platform helps sellers maximize profitability by accounting for all Amazon fees, payout timelines, and competitive dynamics when setting optimal prices.
Explore Feedvisor’s Pricing Solutions →Pending means payment has not yet been verified. Amazon holds new orders for approximately 30 minutes to allow buyer cancellation, and payment authorization can take additional time. Do not ship or contact the buyer while an order is Pending.
Most orders clear Pending status within minutes to hours. In rare cases, orders can remain Pending for up to 21 days if the buyer’s payment method requires extended verification.
Unshipped means payment is confirmed and the order is ready for fulfillment. Shipped means the order has been dispatched. For FBM sellers, you must confirm shipment in Seller Central to move an order from Unshipped to Shipped. For FBA orders, Amazon handles this transition automatically.
Amazon disburses funds every 14 days (standard) or within 24 hours (Express Payout). As of March 2026, FBA order payouts are delayed until 7 days after delivery confirmation (DD+7), extending the total time from order to payment.
MCF orders appear in the Manage Orders page under the “Non-Amazon” Sales Channel filter. They use a separate set of statuses: Planning, Shipping, Complete, and Unfulfillable.
No. Once an order has been marked as Shipped, it cannot be cancelled. The buyer can initiate a return after delivery through Amazon’s returns process.
