Automatic Authorization of Return Requests

The seller has the option to automatically authorize return requests. If the seller decides to do this and enables the feature, all return requests will be authorized automatically. When this happens, an e-mail will be sent to the buyer containing a link to the Returns Merchandise Authorization (RMA). The seller will issue the refund to the buyer once the merchandise has been returned.

If the seller would like to select an automatic authorization of return requests, there are a few options that may be selected as the seller’s default status:

  • I want to authorize each request – The seller will be personally responsible for authorizing all return requests on the Manage Returns tab in Seller Central.
  • I want Amazon to automatically authorize all requests – The seller gives Amazon authority to authorize each return request, meaning all return requests will be authorized. If the seller selects this option, a choice will be offered as to the length of time from the date of the order for the automatic authorization to take place. The maximum time allotted is 30 days.
  • I want Amazon to automatically authorize all requests that meet Amazon policy – The seller gives Amazon authority to authorize all items that meet the regulations states in Amazon’s return policy. If the seller selects this option, a choice will be offered as to the length of time from the date of the order for the automatic authorization to take place. The maximum time allotted is 30 days.

Even if the seller selects one of the above default settings, there is still the option for an override to take place. The seller is able to set up an override for the selected default setting.
