Why Brands Need a 3P Marketplace Strategy on Amazon

Numerous name brands have chosen to end their business with Amazon, citing various challenges associated with selling on the marketplace such as couterfeits and lack of access to customer insights. However, despite leaving the platform, their products continue to be sold on Amazon, often by unauthorized sellers.
To maintain control over brand value, the solution is not for brands to abandon the marketplace but to adjust their strategy. Nearly three-quarters (72%) of 1P brands in 2020 say they want to expand to Amazon’s 3P marketplace, according to our recent report, “Brands and Amazon in the Age of E-Commerce.”
